Mrs. Billie Joyce Franklin, 83, of Barbourville, passed away Monday afternoon, December 25, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Lela Mae Prichard Farmer born on November 6, 1940 in Barbourville.
Billie was a 1959 graduate of Knox Central High School, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved to laugh and enjoyed watching hummingbirds. In earlier years, she enjoyed cooking especially fried chicken which was her specialty, and sewing.
On May 8, 1959, she united in marriage with James Donald Franklin Sr., who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her loving children, James D. Franklin Jr., Ronald Douglas Franklin and wife, Shelly, and Lisa Franklin Clark and husband, Troy; a sister, Wilma Garrison and husband, Matt; cherished grandchildren, Tyler Shields and wife, Kaitlyn, Andrew Franklin and wife, Rachel, Jared Franklin and wife, Carrie Beth, Megan Holly and husband, Michael, and Kristen Cox and husband, Drew; great grandchildren, Easton and Audrey Shields, Charlie and June Franklin and Nora and Owen Holly; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, December 27 at 2 P.M. with Dr. Tyler Shields and Rev. Shane Bingham officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jared Franklin, Andrew Franklin, Troy Clark, Tyler Shields, Steve Farmer and Vernon Farmer.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 1:30 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
