Rev. Charles Eversole, 75, of Barbourville, the husband of Mary Eversole, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2023 at his home. He was the son of the late George and Rosa Davidson Eversole born on August 19, 1947 in Clay County.
Charles was a retired factory worker but devoted his life to ministry. He was the current pastor of the Old Ark House of Prayer and in his over 47 years of ministry touched the lives of countless individuals. He truly practiced what he preached. In his spare time, he enjoyed fox hunting and planting a large garden. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and church family.
On July 6, 1966 he united in marriage with Mary Bowling in Sneedville, TN and to this union two sons were born.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Smith, Laura Abrams, Irene Kelley, Clida Couch and Ethel Farris; brothers, Billy Ray and Bobby Eversole and sister-in-law, Veda Eversole.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Eversole, of Barbourville; sons, Roy Eversole and wife, Barbara and James Eversole and wife, Marlene all of Barbourville; brothers, Frank Eversole and wife, Rosa, of Cassopolis, MI and William Eversole of Barbourville; cherished grandchildren, Elisha Henson, Dwight Robinson, Anthony Watkins and Charles Joseph Eversole; special nephew and niece, Michael Eversole and wife, Angela; sisters-in-law, Gracie Eversole of Barbourville and Maryetta Eversole of Manchester; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the Old Ark House of Prayer Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Roy Eversole, Rev. Charles Hensley and Rev. Jimmie Grubb officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Eversole Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends. Honorary bearers will be Anthony Watkins, Dwight Robinson, C.J. Eversole, Willis Brown and all of his nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the church on Sunday after 6 P.M. and on Monday prior to the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the Old Ark House of Prayer or to Mary Eversole.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
