Mrs. Betty J. Davies, 81, of Mt. Washington, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2020 at the Green Meadows Health Care Center.  She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Drucilla Newman Creighton born on April 24, 1939 in Knox County.

Betty was a former housekeeper with Holiday Inn and a loving mother and grandmother.

In 1997, she united in marriage with Wayne F. Davies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; a daughter, Dianna L. Creighton; two sisters, Ruby Creighton and Geraldine Lunsford and three brothers, Harold, Randall and Cloyd Creighton.

Survivors include her son, James E. Burkes of Carrollton; two brothers, James E. Creighton and wife, Gussie, of Barbourville and Bobby A. Creighton and wife, Joan, of Shepherdsville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Barbourville Cemetery Friday, December 4 with Rev. Charles Henson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.

Please remember, per the Governor’s mandate effective November 20, 2020 all funeral services will be private.  Any person entering the funeral home is expected to be wearing a face covering of some kind at all times including graveside services and maintain the six feet of social distance.  We appreciate your help in following these guidelines so we can continue to serve our community during these trying times in the safest manner possible.
