Mr. James E. Creighton, 84, of Brownsville, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021 at his home.  He was the son of the late John Henry and Drucilla Newman Creighton born on September 19, 1937 in Knox County.

James was a former machine operator with the C. Lee Cook Co., bus driver with the Knox County Public Schools and attended the Parkway Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.  James was loved by all and will be forever missed.

On April 4, 1957, he united in marriage with Ida Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Creighton; a son, Johnny Creighton; three sisters, Ruby Creighton, Geraldine Lunsford and Betty Davies and three brothers, Randall, Harold John and Cloyd Creighton.

Survivors include his four children, Betty Bagget, Shelia Brechin, Linda Sue Jones and James William Creighton; step-children, Tommy Isaac and Della Marie Isaac; a brother, Bobby Creighton and wife, Joan; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, October 14 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Hembree Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
