Mrs. Maggie Anne Cox of Artemus passed peacefully Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Maggie was born on May 9, 1944 to Frank and Lucy Baker. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville. Maggie was a graduate of Cumberland and Union Colleges where she earned her highest degree of a Master’s in Education with Rank 1. With over 30 years dedicated to the education system, Maggie retired from teaching in 1997 but was still an active member of the Knox County retired teacher’s association.

Maggie’s other interests included working in her flower garden, bringing the long-gone clearance flowers back to life from Wal-Mart and Lowe’s, and giving tips to family and friends on how to keep their plants alive. She was also intrigued by her family’s genealogy and spent countless hours researching with her “sissy”, Carol Golden, to connect the dots of the Baker family.

Maggie is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Jim; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Moody; granddaughter, Lauren Grace Dickens and husband, Corey; great-grandson, Atticus James Dickens; brother, Jay Albert Baker and wife, Debbie; sister-in-law, Linda Flowers and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at the Barbourville Cemetery Saturday, October 28 at 4:00 P.M. EST with Dr. Tyler Shields officiating.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the cemetery prior to the service time.

The family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.  https://www.stjude.org/donate

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
