Mrs. Jessie Gayle Cole, 84, of Davis Bend, the widow of Robert Lee Cole, passed away Monday afternoon, April 6, 2020 at the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.  She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lucinda Bays Meeks born on January 20, 1936 in Knox County.

Jessie was a former cook for the D & W Cafeteria, Thelma’s Place and the Meals on Wheels and a member of the Davis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed going to yard sales, cooking, working in her yard and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Knuckles and four brothers, Vernon, Bob, Paul and Gene Meeks.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Cole and wife, Shelia, and Vernon Russell Cole and wife, Dolly, all of Davis Bend; a sister, Christine Patterson of Davis Bend; a sister-in-law, Sandra Meeks of Davis Bend; five grandchildren, James Robert Cole, Heather Renee Cole, Cody Blake, Alyssa Cole and Vernon Cole Jr.; a great grandson, Zackary Cole; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Mildred Napier and Carol Coffey; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A private family graveside service will be conducted in the Davis Cemetery Saturday, April 11 with Rev. Mark Hunter and Rev. Dustin Reed officiating.

Casket bearers will be Ricky Knuckles, Cody Blake, Vernon Cole Jr. and Zackary Cole.  Honorary bearers will be the doctors and nurses of the ICU at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
