CHEAIB, Darlene (1951 – 2019)

Mrs. Darlene Gale Cheaib, 67, of East Bernstadt, formerly of Artemus, passed away Monday morning, June 17, 2019 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Ethel Marie Asbury Messer born on July 30, 1951 in Harlan County.

Darlene was the owner and operator of Tiny Tots Daycare.  She enjoyed word search puzzles and spending time with her family.

In 1968, she united in marriage with Grady Franklin Vandall and to this union two children were born.  Later in 1980, she united in marriage with Mohammad Cheaib and to this union a son was born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cheaib and two brothers, Russell and James Messer.

Survivors include two children, Lisa Marie Grubb and husband, Jeff, of Gray and Frankie Lee Vandall and wife, Linda, of East Bernstadt; four sisters, Betty Lou Carnes of East Bernstadt, Carolyn Sue Johnson of Florida, Diana Lynn Calleja and husband, Steve, and Imogene Messer all of East Bernstadt; a brother, Leonard Messer Jr. of Mills; seven grandchildren, Harold, Franklin, Jeffrey, Makayla, Bentley, Amber and Frankie; four great grandchildren, Payzlee, Luna, Brooklyn and Mason; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, June 21 at 1 P.M.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Chuck Broyles, Jeffrey Grubb, Frankie Vandall, Harold Jordan and Franklin Jordan.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
