Mrs. Mildred Calloway, 75, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 14, 2021 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Bertha Byrley Smith born on October 31, 1945 in Barbourville.
Mildred was a former jeweler and a member of the Friendship Holiness Church where she enjoyed singing. She also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
On March 14, 1962, she united in marriage with Hugh Davis, who preceded her in death, and to this union a daughter was born. Later on March 21, 2009, she united in marriage with Clarence Jerry Calloway.
Other family members to precede her in death include her siblings, Eula Smith Peace, Lizzie Kelly, Joe, Earnest, Michael and Arthur Smith.
Survivors include her loving husband, Clarence J. Calloway; a beloved daughter, Jeanetta Sue Adams and husband, Gary, all of Barbourville; two grandchildren, Erica Bright and husband, Jonathan, and Garrey Adams and wife, Mandy, all of London; seven great grandchildren, Ava, Abbie, Katie, Jonathan, Jordan, Jacob and Jack; one great-great grandchild; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, September 21 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the charity of one’s choice in her memory.
The family requests that all visitors wear a facial covering and practice social distancing during the visitation and funeral service.
