BURTON, Cecilene (1946 – 2019)

Mrs. Cecilene Mills Burton, 73, of Woollum, passed away Monday morning, July 1, 2019 at the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.  She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Elsie Smith Mills born on January 15, 1946 in Knox County.

Ceciline was a former clerk at Yeager’s Shoe Store and a member of the Horn Branch Missionary Baptist Church.  She enjoyed tending flowers, singing and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

On February 25, 1968, she united in marriage with Billy Winston Burton and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tip Mills and a brother-in-law, Douglas Riley.

Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Billy W. Burton of Woollum; two children, Connie Sue Hyatt and husband, Ray, of Lexington and Nicholas Winston Burton of Woollum; three grandchildren, Juliann Nicole Hyatt, Ray L. Hyatt III and Jayden Nicholas Burton; two sisters, Imogene Riley of Cannon and Justine Asher of Manchester; three brothers, Otis Mills of Girdler, Leroy Mills of Cannon and Earnie Lee Mills and wife, Gwen, of Woollum; a brother-in-law, Lester Clark Burton and wife, Mary, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, July 6 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Nan Riley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jason Rains, Glen Dale Smith, Casey Smith, Billy Ray Taylor, Hersel Smith, Tim Fisher.  Honorary bearers will be her church family at the Horn Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
