BRUNER, Fred (1932 – 2020)
Mr. Fred Bruner, 87, of Artemus, passed away Monday morning, January 13, 2020 at Saint Joseph London. He was the son of the late Oscar and Dorothy Hall Bruner born on October 2, 1932 in Knox County.
Fred retired with 20 years of service in the United States Navy, was a former service manager at Myers Chevrolet, a member of the First Baptist Church Artemus and the American Legion. He enjoyed mowing his yard, hunting, fishing and gardening.
On September 7, 1955, he united in marriage with Janet Elizabeth Bishop and to this union five children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Bruner; two sons, Fred Alan and Robert Wayne Bruner; a sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Carl Dusina and a brother, Orville Bruner.
Survivors include three children, Janice Bates and husband, Rick, of Artemus, Michele Dickerson of Tampa, FL and Tommy Bruner of Heidrick; a brother, Eugene Bruner and wife, Joann, of Corbin; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, January 16 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Steve Mayle and Rev. Mike Helton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Fred Hensley, Matthew Mire, Rick Bates, Stephen Smith, Robert Smith and Jason Bates. Honorary bearers will be Nicholas Bates and Brian Ramsey.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the charity of one’s choice in memory of Fred.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
