BROWN, Raymond (1952 – 2019)

Mr. Raymond Brown, 66, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 31, 2019 at Baptist Health Corbin.  He was the son of the late Lewis and Disa Bingham Brown born on December 7, 1952 at Scalf.

Raymond was a logger and attended the New Bethel Baptist Church.  He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, cooking, attending church and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

On November 13, 1971, he united in marriage with Wanda Sue Smith and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Sue Brown; two brothers, Clifford Brown and Lewis Brown Jr. and his in-laws, King and Elsie Grubb Smith.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sue Brown of Barbourville; two children, Stacie Carnes and husband, David, of Barbourville and Amy Monaghan and Jason of Lexington; four sisters, Bernice Wheeler and husband, Mike, of Macomb, MI, Helen Grubb of Bowling Green, Marjorie Boggs and Shiree Young both of Barbourville; five brothers, Willard Brown and wife, Ruth, of Piqua, OH, Randall Brown of Barbourville, Rodney Brown and wife, Darla, of Corbin, Ricky Brown of Barbourville and Tim Brown and wife, Lisa, of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Keisha Jackson and husband, Chris, Katelyn Hanson and husband, Travis, Abigail Carnes and Brad, Talan Monaghan, Addison, Anderson and Heartly Walton; five great grandchildren, Cash Hanson, Tytus Jackson, Kingsley Carnes, Deacon Carnes and Tucker Jackson, who is to arrive in December; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, August 4 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Lonnie Collett and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Chris Jackson, Travis Hanson, Brad Centers, Jason Walton, Talan Monaghan, Mackie Brown and Tony Brown.  Honorary bearers will be the New Bethel Sunday School Class, Jr. Hubbard, General Brown, Jay Hammons, Colson Messer, Wendell Wagers, Doug Helton, Johnny Collett, Troy Hoskins, Dr. Hasni, Dr. Lohe, Dr. Kumar and the PCU staff at Baptist Health Corbin.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
