BRANSTUTTER, Eugene (1929 – 2019)

Mr. Eugene Jody “Gene” Branstutter, 90, of Barbourville, passed away Friday morning July 19, 2019 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation. He was the son of the late George and Dona Baker Branstutter born on March 21, 1929 in Bell County.

Gene was a former maintenance worker with Union College and a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.  He enjoyed working in his yard to keep it well-groomed and maintained and was an avid U.K. basketball fan.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

On June 1, 1956, he united in marriage with Zona Matlock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zona Branstutter; four brothers, Willie Carson, Ray Branstutter and two infant brothers.

Survivors include two cousins, Roy Branstutter and wife, Mayme, of Swan Pond and Arnold Branstutter and wife, Judy, of  Toledo, OH; a sister-in-law, Mary Matlock, of Michigan among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, July 22 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Garrett Garland and Rev. Harold Miracle officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery with military funeral honors.

Casket bearers will be his church family.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
