ABNER, Mearl Dean (1967 – 2019)

Mr. Mearl Dean Abner, 51, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday morning, July 4, 2019.  He was the son of the late Walter and Jean Cheek Abner born on September 9, 1967.

Mearl was a former employee of E. K. Woods Lumber Company and of the Holiness faith.  He enjoyed playing basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Hollin Abner; three children, Dustin Dean Abner and wife, Heather, of Barbourville, Tasha Nicole Abner of Dewitt and Cody Dean Abner of Barbourville; two sisters, Maudine Smith of Girdler and Wendy Abner of Keavy; 11 grandchildren; a special friend and former wife, Sandy Collins of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, July 13 at 12 noon.  He will be laid to rest in the Blevins Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
