Mrs. Jackie Carnes Abner, 74, of Heidrick, went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2026 in the St Joseph Hospital in London, surrounded by those she loved, her family.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and servant of God, Jackie, lived a life defined by her faith, love and unwavering dedication to serving others. She shared a beautiful marriage of 57 years with the love of her life, Bobby Eugene Abner.  Together, they built not only a family, but a ministry and a legacy rooted in serving the Lord.

Alongside her husband, Jackie faithfully helped pastor numerous churches across the tri-county area for more than 28 years. She was more than a pastor’s wife — she was a prayer warrior, encourager, teacher, listener and a steady presence to countless people through every season of life. She celebrated with others in their joys, carried them through their struggles and showed the love of Christ through both her words and her actions.  Jackie had a heart of servanthood to the less fortunate and caring for her beloved friend, Matthew Baker, who she not only grew up with but loved and provided for during his last 30 plus years of life.

To her family, she was simply “Momma” — the heart of the home. She loved deeply, gave generously and had a way of making those around her feel cared for and seen. Her greatest joys were found in her faith, family and the simple moments spent with the people she loved most.

Jackie leaves behind her loving husband, Bobby; children, Tim Abner and wife, Tina, and Alisha Hurst and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Ashley Stallsworth and husband, Gabe, Amber Abner, Madisyn Hurst and Bobby Hurst; two great grandchildren, Ava Stallsworth and Kayson Burchett along with many family members, church family and friends who were blessed by her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, McCoy and Doxie Carnes, and parents-in-law, Oscar and Louise Abner; sisters, Colleen Bales and Janice Floyd; sister-in-law, Betty Carnes; brother-in-law, Terry Smith; beloved nephew, Brian Bales and her dear friend, Matthew Baker.

She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Dave Bales; brothers, McCoy Carnes Jr and wife, Madge, Rex Carnes and wife, Judy, and Phillip Carnes and wife, Vickie; sisters, Mary Mills, Madeline Mays and husband, Jimmy, Diane Smith, Linda Hughley and husband, Randy, and Donna Cain and husband, Billy; sister-in-law, Karen Crothers; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Abner and wife, Joyce, and Sanford Abner and wife, Elsie;  special grand-daughter, Harley Hiterbrandt; countless nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great nephews and great-great nephews.

While her family grieves the loss of her presence here on earth, they find comfort in knowing that her faith has become her sight. The prayers that she prayed, the lessons that she taught, the kindness that she showed and the unconditional love she poured out will continue to live on through every life she touched.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, July 12 at 3 P.M. with Pastor Mark Sarver officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Fisher Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Sanford Abner, Buddy Abner, Ethan Abner, Darian Abner, Peyton Clark, Grant Miller and Abram Smith.

Friends may visit at the funeral home after 1:30 P.M. Sunday until the funeral hour.
