DISNEY, Summer Lee (2002 – 2019)

Miss Summer Lee Disney, 17, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, October 27, 2019 at St. Joseph London. She was the daughter of Crystal Faye Berkley Disney born on March 12, 2002 in Corbin.

Summer was a high school student and a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center. She dearly loved animals and was involved in various equestrian organizations. She enjoyed horseback riding, barrel racing and had started training horses. Summer also volunteered at the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter and enjoyed photography and reading.

Survivors include her loving mother, Crystal Disney of Barbourville; her grandparents, Shirley and Cora Smith Berkley of Barbourville; special cousins, Tammy Tomaw and her children, Amanda Buchanan and Jaimie Tomaw and Rhonda Stanton and husband, Terry, and their children, Makayla Messer Rose, Hanna Messer and Ali Stanton; several aunts and uncles; special friends, Makayla Messer and family, McKinlee Smith and family, Jessie Hubbard, Mattie Logan, Danielle Hampshire and family and many other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, November 1 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Mike Helton and Rev. Don Napier officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jerry Saylor, Aaron Shelton, Dale Smith, Terry Stanton, Wayne Woolum, Logan Hampton, Jessie Hubbard and Shane Ledford. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Messer, Tony Grubb, Jordan Payne, Dallas Brown, Greg Belcher and family, Matthew Slusher, Ally Shepherd, Dalton Ferguson and Jeremy Sharp, the faculty and staff at G. R. Hampton Elementary School, Dizney Mountain Rodeo, Knott County Trail Riders.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
