Mrs. Janice Sue Price Rice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away at her home at the age of 81 years old on September 8, 2026. She was born on October 2, 1944, to her loving parents, Steve and Velva Jones Price.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reed and Lucy Rice; her infant son, Harold Gene Rice; her infant granddaughter, Gabby Mills; her sisters, Betty Price and Helen Barnes; and her brother, Randall Price.

She was united in marriage to Edward Arthur Rice on November 11, 1961. Three children were born to this union: Deborah Karen Moniz and husband, Steve and Sherry Annette Hall and husband, Harold. Her infant son, Harold Gene Rice, preceded her in death and one very special niece Tara Price whom she loved and raised as her own.

Janice was deeply loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered for the love she had for those around her, as well as for the special fudge she made as gifts for anyone who wanted it.

She loved to cook and keep her home clean; she was a wonderful cook. She loved camping, roasting marshmallows, and playing in the fire with the babies before she became too sick to enjoy it. She was a lifelong care taker for anyone who needed it. Janice was a devout Christian who was saved and baptized in her early years.

She especially loved her grandsons, whom she loved more than life itself: Derek Mills, Michael Hall, Travis Rice and wife, Jerrica and Bubba Hall. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.

Janice is survived by her brothers, Donnie Price and wife, Linda, Terry Price and wife, Vina, Gary Price and wife, Teresa and Stevie Price and wife, Teresa and one sister, Diane Smith and husband Doug. She is also survived by her special sisters-in-law, Carrie Rice, Sophia Rice, Cleo Smith, Janice Leddington and Marlene Price.

Janice and her husband, Edward Rice, attended Friendship Holiness Church, where he was pastor for 2 years. They also attended Scalf Chapel Pentecostal Church for more than 25 years, where they made lifelong friends and cooked many dumplings and biscuits together.

Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews, Anthony Price, Stephen Smith, and Matthew Price and Josh Price. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, September 14 at 1 P.M. with Mike Corey, Rev. David Rice and Rev. Roger Liford officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Dozier Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
