Mr. Joseph V. Baty, 93, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Joseph Horace and Ella Farmer Baty born March 31, 1933 in Rising Fawn, GA.

Joe faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was commander of VFW Post 5425, former commander of American Legion Post 69, and of the Baptist faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and watching NASCAR and baseball.

On February 14, 1977, he united in marriage with Charlotte Ann Carroll.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, and brother-in-law, Richard Carroll.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Janice Hatfield of Ringgold, GA; sisters, Jo Chastine of LaFayette, GA and Vivian Echoles of Pass Christian, MI; cherished granddaughter, Sabrina Harrison and husband, Todd; sister-in-law, Connie Carroll; among other relatives and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, June 9 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Eli Broughton officiating. Military honors will follow the service. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
