Mrs. Vira Lee Gibbs, 86, of Manchester, the widow of Kenneth Gibbs, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at AdventHealth Manchester Hospital.  She was born November 30, 1939 in Clay County, the daughter of the late Dock and Goldie Smith Asher.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Oda Mae Abner and Anna Lee York; brothers, Phil, Letcher and Albert Asher; a nephew, Larry Asher; and a dear friend, Buck Warren.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Vernon Gibbs and wife, Lyvonne, Jeffery Gibbs and wife, Susan, and Gwen Mills and husband, Earnie; her grandchildren, Curtis Mills, Mark Gibbs and wife, Jessica, Brandon Gibbs and wife, Suzanne, and Lora Beth Warren and husband, Travis; great grandchildren, Brian Gibbs and wife, Jessica, Kenneth Mills, Summer Mills, Gavin Gibbs, Allie Gibbs, Grayson Gibbs, Zeke Warren and Zach Warren; a great-great grandchild, John Marcus Gibbs; siblings, Clara Dobbs and Elmer Asher; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted at the Antioch United Baptist Church Friday, June 5 at 11 A.M. with Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Asher Cemetery on South Highway 11.

Friends may visit at the Britton Funeral Home Thursday after 6 P.M.

Vira will be remembered by all who knew her.
