Mrs. Lola Faye Corey Terrell, known to most as “Faye,” peacefully entered her heavenly home Sunday morning, May 17, 2026 at the age of 93 at Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by love and compassionate care.
Born on June 5, 1932, in Knox County, Faye was the daughter of the late John H. Corey and Maggie Black Corey. She lived a life filled with adventure, faith, intelligence and devotion to her family.
Alongside her late husband, Harris Terrell Jr., Faye shared a love of aviation and proudly became a pilot. She worked as a biochemist at the University of Kentucky and also spent years in education. Faye loved tennis, golf, horseback riding, gardening, music and especially the hymns of her faith. She was a member of First Baptist Church Corbin and New Bethel Baptist Church Cranes Nest.
One of Faye’s greatest passions was preserving family history. Alongside her sisters, she spent years researching ancestry, collecting photographs and preserving stories for future generations.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Terrell Shanks; siblings, Samuel Corey, Charles Corey, John H. Corey Jr., Barbara Carty, Marie Chesnut, Mary Lois Asher, Curt Corey and Lorene Corey; and beloved brothers-in-law Rex Carty, Ora Chesnut and Eugene Asher.
She is survived by her grandson, Mark Terrell Rodgers of Lexington; great-grandson, Kurt Rodgers of Lexington; sister-in-law, Venna Corey of Barbourville; great-niece Angela McDonald, who lovingly cared for and advocated for Faye in her later years; along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at Corinth Cemetery in Corbin Friday, May 22 at 2 P.M. with Dr. Tyler Shields officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and exceptional care shown to Faye during her time there.
Family and friends will gather at the cemetery prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Corinth Cemetery Fund in memory of Faye. Donations can be made at Cumberland Valley National Bank or mailed to P.O. Box 709, London, KY 40741.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
