Mr. Jerry Winston Ledington, 82, of Cannon, passed away Wednesday evening, October 29, 2025 at his home.  He was born January 26, 1943 in Harlan, the son of the late Carl and Creasie Higgins Ledington.

Jerry was a former mechanic with Martin Paving Company and a member of the Boone Height Pentecostal Church.  He was known for growing tomatoes and peppers, but he also loved hollering at Granny and working on cars.

On September 27, 1976, he united in marriage with Sarah Grubb in Claiborne County, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Ledington and brothers, Vincel and Waynie Ledington.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sara Ledington of Cannon; children, Kimberly Matthews and husband, Larry, of Cincinnati, OH, Jeana Ledington of Covington, Angela Williams of Huntersville, NC, Mary Barnes of Girdler, Scott Hammons of Cannon, Robert Hammons and wife, Mae, of Bimble and Patsy O’Bryant and husband, Marty, of Pomeroy, OH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, November 2 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Charles Henson and Evangelist Brad Oakwood officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Trace Branch Community Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Madison Hicks, Dakota Barnes, Dawson Barnes, Morgan Hicks, Malorie Hicks and Mase Hicks.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
