Mr. Jack Luther Lawson Jr., 53, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, October 5, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  He was born December 8, 1971 in Pineville, the son of Brenda Joyce Smith Lawson and the late Jack Luther Lawson.

Jack was a member of the Hinkle Branch Holiness Church.  He loved Jesus and his family and was an avid Knox Central Panthers and Kentucky Wildcats fan.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Mary Smith and James and Millie Lawson.

Survivors include his loving mother, Brenda Joyce Lawson; a sister, Amy Joyce Lester and husband, Mark, nieces and nephews, Patty Joyce Mills, Mary Elizabeth Jordan and husband, Nicholas, Emily Faith Mills, Nixon Jack Jordan, Brenna Faith Mills, Nolan Ray Jordan and Nathan Lee Jordan; among other loved ones and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Henry Mills Cemetery Sunday, October 12 at 11 A.M. with Rev. James Smith officiating.

Casket bearers will be Mark Lester, Nicholas Jordan, James Smith, Zach Smith, Evan Smith, Larry Smith Jr., Jordan Smith, Jeff Ledford, Colby Ledford and Leslie Smith.  Serving as honorary bearers will be Coach Wayne Mills and the 2025 Knox Central High School Football Team and Johnny Wilder.

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Sunday at 10:30 A.M. to travel in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations toward Jack’s funeral expenses be made to the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
